Description of heritage
Descriptif du centre d'interprétation
The church of this former Benedictine priory honours the martyr Marcel and his companion Anastase, tortured in Argentomagus, an ancient city that excavations continue to reveal. The chapel under the bell tower presents unique objects in Berry in a strong showcase, splendid reliquaries in limousin enamels containing their relics and narrating the episodes of their torture. The single nave church, transept with apsidioles, choir with very decorated central apse, also has a crypt (stone storage area) under the south transept and its apse chapel. The visitor will take pleasure scrutinising the Gothic spirit stalls (early 16th century) with the truculent mercies and the rood screen that closes the monastic choir towards the nave.Descriptif du parc et jardin
