Description

Description of heritage

  • Descriptif du parc et jardin
The textile garden is located in the patio of the museum. It is a small garden on the theme of plants linked to textile. One may find plants used for their textile fibres (hemp, flax, hop, nettles...), for their dyes (alchemilla, indegotin, madder, saffron...) or for other manufacturing techniques such as twisting or domestic activities such as cleaning textile items.

  • Descriptif du musée
The only museum of its kind in Europe on the theme of male fashion. Both modern and fun, it is located in an old fashioning workshop on the banks of the Creuse River. A garden full of textile plants completes the visit. About 150 years ago, a shirt manufacturing workshop opened in Argenton which became the place to get your shirt from. Attesting to this adventure, the museum describes, with machines and tools, all the steps of the manufacturing from creation to packaging. Experience the history of shirts from the Middle-Ages. Dream before the impressive collection of male clothing from the 18th century to the present day or the incredible theatre costumes of celebrities.
